Nupoor Dance School

Nupoor Dance School was founded in 2014 with one simple vision: to spread the beauty of Kathak, one of the most graceful and expressive classical dance forms of India. Over the past ten years, what began as a small group of passionate dancers has blossomed into a vibrant community, with three branches across Pennsylvania and Delaware. Nupoor actively engages with the local community through performances, fundraisers, and cultural events across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. The school has hosted workshops with eminent Kathak artists from India, offering students exposure to authentic training and broader artistic perspectives. In the summer of 2026, students of Nupoor will present their art on the grand stage of Carnegie Hall, New York, as part of the All Indian Dance Festival. At Nupoor, we welcome students of all ages and experiences. Our training proudly follows the rich tradition of Jaipur and Lucknow gharaana. Through a seven-level curriculum, the school emphasizes strong technique, musicality, and expressive storytelling. Students are encouraged to take initiative at rehearsals, collaborate on creative ideas, and explore new rhythmic and expressive possibilities—helping them grow as confident performers and leaders while developing a deep appreciation and respect towards Indian classical dance.
